BAYELSA AND THE MARINE ORGANISMS. A CALL FOR URGENT ATTENTION
Bayelsa state has become the migrating route for several species of aquatic organisms. Various cases of butchering has been reported between January 2019 and January 2020.
These are giant aquatic organisms that can turn to means of revenue generation for the federation. I could remember the case of the butchered whale that happened last year, dolphin and several others that were kept from the media. The latest news was the capturing of a massive leatherback sea turtle at Foropa Community.
These community needs the intervention of NGOs involved in wildlife conservation to help in changing their perspectives toward these threatened and endangered species of animal.
This is actually not what is the case in other countries of the world.
Federal Government should find a lasting solution to ensure these incidence is minimized in the region.
We need your opinion on how to curb this menace on our aquatic organisms.
